Dubai to Host the World’s Largest Technology and AI Event Next Year

Tech enthusiasts around the world can mark their calendars as Dubai gears up to host Gitex TechCation 2026, an unprecedented global celebration of technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence. The mega event will take place from December 7 to 11, 2026, at Expo City Dubai, cementing the emirate’s status as a global hub for future technologies.

Announced by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the event is set to become the largest of its kind in the world following directives from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Gitex TechCation will bring together leading technology companies, startups, investors, and innovators in an immersive experience that extends beyond traditional exhibition halls, transforming Dubai into a citywide stage for digital creativity and innovation.

Citywide Celebration of Innovation

As part of the initial rollout, the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) have signed a strategic partnership to promote and organize the event. The collaboration will leverage Dubai’s cultural and tourism assets to design TechCation-themed programmes, campaigns, and experiences across the city, integrating technology with leisure, art, and entertainment.

The initiative supports DET’s mission to make Dubai the world’s best city to visit, live, work, and invest, encouraging visitors to extend their stays while experiencing the emirate’s expanding digital and cultural ecosystem.

Dubai’s Global Appeal

Dubai’s global stature as a top-tier travel destination further enhances the significance of hosting Gitex TechCation. The city was ranked No. 1 globally in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards for three consecutive years (2022–2024), the first city in history to achieve this distinction.

Its culinary reputation continues to soar, with the 2025 Michelin Guide recognizing 119 Dubai restaurants, including 19 Michelin-starred establishments, and two eateries listed among The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025.

Driving Dubai’s D33 Vision

The Gitex TechCation initiative aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to position Dubai among the world’s top three global cities by 2033. By embedding a world-leading technology and investment ecosystem within Dubai’s thriving tourism and cultural framework, the event reinforces the city’s vision to become a premier destination for talent, innovation, and foreign direct investment (FDI).

Dubai continues to lead globally in FDI attraction, ranking first in Greenfield project inflows for the eighth consecutive half-year period in 2025. The city also topped Savills’ Executive Nomad Index, underscoring its appeal to digital entrepreneurs, investors, and global professionals.
