74-Year-Old Man Marries 24-Year-Old After Paying Over Rs. 50 Million

A 74-year-old man in Indonesia has made headlines after reportedly spending millions to marry a woman 50 years younger than him.

The unusual marriage took place in the Pacitan Regency area of East Java, where the elderly groom, identified as Tarman, tied the knot with 24-year-old Shela Arika. According to reports, the groom gave his bride a cheque worth 3 billion Indonesian rupiah (around Rs. 51 million) as part of the wedding gift.

The lavish ceremony was held on October 1, where guests cheered as the bride was handed the cheque. Interestingly, instead of receiving wedding presents, the host reportedly gave each guest 100,000 rupiah in cash.

The story went viral online after a wedding photography company that covered the event claimed that the newlyweds left the venue without paying for their photography services and could not be contacted afterward.

Rumors quickly spread on social media that Tarman had fled the event on a motorcycle and that the multi-million-rupiah cheque might be fake.

However, a few days later, Tarman appeared on social media to deny the rumors, confirming that the cheque was real and that he had not run away. The bride’s family also dismissed the speculation, explaining that the couple had simply gone away on their honeymoon.

Authorities have now launched an investigation after the photography company filed a formal complaint regarding non-payment.
