Renowned News Anchor Debunks Hoax of Her Death

False reports about the death of renowned Pakistani newscaster Ishrat Fatima circulated on social media, prompting the veteran broadcaster to clarify that she is alive and well.

The rumor claimed that the former PTV news anchor had passed away, leading to confusion among fans and colleagues. However, senior anchor Tauseeq Haider released a video message confirming that Ishrat Fatima is safe and in good health. He also spoke to her through a video call.

During the call, Ishrat Fatima laughed off the rumors, saying she had just returned home after recording a radio program and was planning to wash some blankets that day.

Ishrat Fatima began her career with Radio Pakistan’s popular program Khel Aur Khilari before moving on to present weather updates and later reading news on PTV.

She gained immense popularity during the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s as the face of PTV’s 9 pm Urdu news bulletin. Fatima remained associated with PTV until 2007, after which she joined Radio Pakistan and also worked with Voice of America.
