A man allegedly slit the throats of his two young daughters amid mounting financial stress and unpaid debts.
According to police, the tragic event took place in the Kausar Niazi Colony neighborhood of Karachi’s North Nazimabad area. The suspect, identified as Akbar, son of Abdul Sattar, was arrested soon after the crime, and the murder weapon was recovered from his possession.
Investigators revealed that the accused had been under severe financial strain and was deeply burdened by debt. He reportedly owed large sums from several local savings committees, which he could no longer repay due to unemployment.
Police added that Akbar is the father of six children — five daughters and one son. The victims, identified as Zainab and Aaliya, were 10 and 11 years old.
Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances behind the horrific act.
