The Central Business District (CBD) Punjab has issued an official clarification regarding reports linking Imperial College London to a new healthcare university at Nawaz Sharif IT City (NSIT) in Lahore.
According to the clarification, the upcoming Healthcare University and Affiliated Medical College at CBD NSIT is being developed through a collaborative initiative between NovaCare and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (UK) — an independent NHS institution — not Imperial College London.
Officials confirmed that the project remains firmly on track under the NovaCare–ICHT partnership and will serve as a world-class hub for healthcare education, research, and innovation in Lahore.
The university will operate under the direct supervision of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (UK), ensuring that global standards in medical training and research are upheld.
CBD Punjab emphasized that recent media reports suggesting the involvement of Imperial College London were incorrect and based on a misunderstanding of the collaboration.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to advancing high-quality healthcare infrastructure and education in Punjab through international partnerships like this one.
