Imperial College London has issued a formal clarification denying reports that it plans to open a campus at Nawaz Sharif IT City in Lahore, Pakistan.
In a statement, the university said, “Reports that Imperial College London plans to open a campus overseas are incorrect.” It added that the institution currently has no plans to establish a campus outside the United Kingdom, and that all Imperial campuses remain UK-based.

Lahore, October 22, 2025. The Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA), also known as Central Business District Punjab (CBD Punjab), clarifies, The upcoming Healthcare University and Affiliated Medical College at CBD NSIT is a collaborative initiative between NovaCare and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (UK) an independent NHS institution.
The project remains firmly on track under the NovaCare–ICHT partnership, advancing our mission to establish a world-class hub for healthcare education, research, and innovation at CBD NSIT, Lahore, under the direct supervision of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (UK).
The clarification comes after several media outlets and social media posts suggested that Imperial College London would set up a campus at the Nawaz Sharif IT City. The reports circulated widely after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif shared a Facebook post mentioning the development.
Her post stated that the foundation stone for the Imperial College London campus would be laid in November, alongside the construction of a modern hospital and IT Tower, which is reportedly 78 percent complete.
Imperial College emphasized that these reports are inaccurate and encouraged the public to refer to the university’s International Relations Office webpages for verified details about its global activities.
The clarification puts an end to speculation about the university’s expansion to Pakistan, reaffirming that Imperial’s educational and research operations remain exclusively within the UK.

It’s essential for the Punjab government to clarify details regarding Imperial College London Campus & it’s foundation stone being laid in Lahore in November 25. May be there is some misunderstanding.
