PAA Responds to Alleged $850,000 Crypto Theft at Karachi Airport

Following certain reports regarding an alleged theft of cryptocurrency from a passenger at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP), the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) immediately probed the matter in coordination with the Airport Security Force (ASF) and police authorities.

After a detailed review of the CCTV footage and official records, it has been confirmed that no such incident occurred at JIAP.

As per the police report, an individual named Mr. Faizyab filed a petition in court, claiming that four uniformed persons took him to a room, seized his mobile phone, and accessed his passwords to steal cryptocurrency valued at USD 850,000.

However, the verification revealed the following facts:

  • The complainant did not report any such occurrence to ASF or PAA at the time.
  • CCTV footage jointly reviewed by ASF and PAA officials showed no evidence of the alleged event.
  • The airline record indicates that the individual was a no-show for his flight to Peshawar.
  • The police submitted a report to the court confirming that no incident of this nature took place at the airport.

  • poor guy, what will he gain from accusing the airport staff? obviously the airport is involved in the theft and they are denying it.

  • Crypto transactions are recorded on blockchain. It may be verified from there if any transaction occurred or not. It was a very simple way to check the receivers account through mobile.
