Superintendent of Police (SP) for Islamabad’s Industrial Area Zone, Adeel Akbar, reportedly took his own life while on duty near Serena Hotel, Express News reported.
According to initial reports, SP Akbar used a weapon taken from his staff to shoot himself. He was immediately rushed to Polyclinic Hospital and later shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where doctors pronounced him dead.
The Islamabad Police have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident. Further details are expected once authorities issue a formal response.
SP Adeel Akbar was a respected officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) who had recently joined the Islamabad Police as head of the Industrial Area Zone. He holds an MPhil in Governance and Public Policy from the National Defense University (NDU), Islamabad.
Over the course of his career, he served in various districts across Balochistan, commanding multiple police units. His professional expertise included security management, community policing, human rights protection, counter-terrorism, human resource management, and crisis response.
