9 Marriage Halls in Lahore Sealed For Breaking 2 Laws

Lahore’s district administration has launched a strict operation against wedding halls violating the Punjab Marriage Functions Act 2016. On Monday, officials sealed nine marriage halls and imposed heavy fines on 13 venues for breaking the ‘one-dish’ policy and operating beyond allowed hours.

During the crackdown, three halls—including a farmhouse in Saddar Tehsil—were sealed for hosting events past the legal time limit. In Model Town Tehsil, authorities inspected three wedding halls near Wapda Town and sealed two for serious violations. Two more halls in Allama Iqbal Tehsil were also shut down for ignoring the ‘one-dish’ rule and time restrictions.

Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza said, “We are committed to enforcing the law and will ensure all wedding halls follow the ‘one-dish’ and time restrictions.” He directed assistant commissioners to adopt a zero-tolerance approach and seal any hall or farmhouse found breaking the rules, without exception.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed that these actions are meant to protect public welfare and maintain civic order. He warned that strict action will be taken against late-night wedding functions. “No hall owner is above the law. There will be no leniency for violators—fines and sealing will be enforced,” he added.
