Within just a few hours of launching the new e-challan system, Karachi traffic authorities have issued fines exceeding Rs. 12 million to motorists for various traffic violations.
According to the initial report by the Traffic Police, a total of 2,662 e-challans were generated through the automated monitoring system. These included 419 for over-speeding, three for lane violations, four for stop-line breaches, and 1,535 for not wearing seat belts.
Additionally, 166 drivers were fined for running red lights, 507 motorcyclists for riding without helmets, three for wrong-way driving, seven for tinted windows, five for illegal parking, and 32 for using mobile phones while driving.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that traffic violations are now being automatically recorded through modern surveillance cameras, covering all types of vehicles including rickshaws, cars, and motorcycles.
The chief minister noted that the new e-ticketing system eliminates human interference and bias while improving public safety and service delivery. Under the project, the number of cameras will be increased to 12,000, and the system will gradually expand across Sindh.

Sindh could work better without human interfarence so all political and beaurucratic persons should be removed from System.
It will only give income to concern authorities. Hardly it can be expect that traffic will improve with it.
Yes it will only give income to the authorities but what about the traffic police wala … they are now penny less & bribery will be lesser.
It’s now new norm to collect bribery 22 century style wakadodogagagogo
Traffic violations are the main reasons for accidents when people will pay huge fines they will learn and follow the traffic rules and regulations.
Positive step towards traffic rules
Fantastic initiative, this is the greatest step for ensuring traffic discipline. Kudos to the Sindh Government
Illiterate and idiots like you encourage corrupt people who are incharge of sindh and pakistan as well.
419 challans for over-speeding when speed limit signs are not present
3 violations for lane, 4 violations for stop line. Road markings are not there because if money will be fully spent on projects what will politicians take home.
166 violations for red line, around 50 percent of the signals are not working and they want public to follows traffic rules strictly.
Accountability and audits should be done of all development projects and personal wealth of government officials on yearly basis to minimise corruption. Without controlling corruption there is no use of imposing fines on general public.
Let’s applaud the positive initiative and not condemn just for the he k of it
Just curios to know how will this system work on University Road ??
They don’t pay any attention to the condition of the roads, all they know is how to make money. It would only be good if the roads were actually repaired properly.
Thank God. Finally this is a long time coming and will hopefully make people obey traffic rules and regulations. Well done.
How many heavy commercial vehicles were challenged?
fake news
What about the heavy traffic.? will they be issued challans for entering city limits in non permitted hours…?? At Mauri pur road.. they occupy all fours lanes.. and one has to crisscross them which at sometimes becomes too dangerous.
Perhaps renaming it to eChallan Haram khori will be more appropriate.
Many signals are not working and even police and Sindh government vehicles violated the traffic rules. Signals should be rectified
