Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the Works and Services Department to restart construction work on the Ghotki-Kandhkot Bridge by November 2025 and ensure the project’s completion by 2026.
Chairing a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House, Shah said the bridge over the Indus River is a major infrastructure project being developed under a public-private partnership. The project will directly connect Ghotki and Kandhkot while strengthening road links between Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan.
The chief minister instructed all relevant departments to accelerate work and maintain close coordination to resolve outstanding issues. The bridge will span 12.15 kilometers, including approach roads — 10.40 kilometers on the Ghotki side and 8.10 kilometers on the Kandhkot side — along with a 4.55-kilometer Thull Link Road.
Earlier in May, Sindh Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Investment and Public-Private Partnership Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar had described the project as “the longest river bridge in the entire South Asian region,” adding that it represents a landmark step in Sindh’s infrastructure development and regional integration.
