Sindh to Launch Free E-Scooter Training for Women in Three More Districts

The Sindh government has announced an electric scooter training program for women and female students in Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana, following its success in Karachi.

During a meeting chaired by Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon, several key decisions were made regarding ongoing and future transport and mass transit projects.

Sharjeel Memon said the provincial government is taking practical steps to empower women by enhancing their mobility and economic opportunities. The e-scooter training initiative, launched in partnership with a private company, aims to equip women with the skills and confidence to commute independently.

Upon completing the program, participants will receive free driving licences to ease any financial barriers.

The meeting also reviewed major infrastructure developments, including the completion of the Taj Haider Bridge, a vital section of Karachi’s Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). Memon announced that the bridge would soon be opened to the public.

Additionally, the government approved the launch of a new electric bus route from Gulshan-e-Maymar to Merewether Tower, featuring 15 eco-friendly buses designed to promote sustainable and modern transportation in Karachi.
