Construction on the much-awaited T-Chowk Flyover in Islamabad has reached an advanced stage, with officials confirming that 60 percent of the work has been completed. The project is expected to open to traffic by early December, significantly improving connectivity between GT Road and the federal capital.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inspected the project site on Friday to assess progress and ongoing construction activities. During the visit, he expressed satisfaction over the pace and quality of work while directing authorities to maintain strict construction standards.
“There will be no compromise on quality or speed,” Naqvi emphasized, adding that the flyover’s completion would enable commuters from GT Road to enter Islamabad without facing traffic signals, easing congestion on key urban routes.
Officials noted that the project is being executed under round-the-clock supervision, with teams working 24/7 to meet the deadline. Naqvi said that completing the flyover on time is essential to reduce public inconvenience, especially during school hours and peak traffic times.
The minister reiterated that resolving traffic issues remains a top government priority, and completion of the T-Chowk Flyover will mark a major step toward a smoother traffic network in Islamabad’s southern corridor.

Islamabad is a chaotic city with more vehicles than the residents in the city. Unfortunately, rapid urbanization unchecked is the reason. Islamabad Master Plan had envisioned 280,000 as the maximum population with corresponding infrastructures. But, the population has already exceeded 2 million with infrastructure exploding!
