Pakistan’s Newest Domestic Airline Announces Date for First Flight

Air Karachi, Pakistan’s newest airline, will launch its flight operations on March 23, 2026. The announcement follows the official inauguration of the airline’s operations office at the Old Airport in Karachi.

The launch event brought together high-profile dignitaries, including PIA CEO Amir Hayat, Director General of Civil Aviation Nadir Shafiq, diplomats, shareholders, and the Board of Directors.

Secretary of Defense Lieutenant General (Retd) Muhammad Ali praised the initiative. He said, “We are making efforts to take Pakistan to the position our founding leaders dreamt of.” He highlighted the vital role of Karachi’s business community in boosting the city, province, and the country’s global reputation.

He acknowledged the complexity of launching an airline, noting, “Some airlines came but couldn’t survive, while others are still providing services today.” He also pointed out Air Karachi’s partnership with PIA’s engineering division as a positive step and assured full government support for the new venture.

Air Karachi Chairman Hanif Gohar revealed that 42 businessmen joined forces to establish the airline. “We are 42 people who have created this airline for the country,” he said. Gohar shared that he first applied for an airline license in 2009, and after years of perseverance, the dream has finally been realized.

Gohar also emphasized the business community’s broader contributions, including work in welfare, healthcare, and education through public-private partnerships. “If you remove Karachi’s business community from this system, the wheel of the country’s economy will stop,” he stressed.

Earlier, Air Karachi CEO AVM (Retd) Syed Imran Majid announced that the airline has signed an MoU for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul services with PIA. The airline has obtained its RPT license and is in the process of acquiring three A320 aircraft, with ongoing meetings with other airlines.

  • Welcome to the new airline Karachi Airline. Best wishes for successful business opportunities and safe, efficient operations.

  • Good move. May this initiative succeeds & proves to be a good addition to the industry, add more choices with comfort & elegance for the general public of Pakistan.

  • These public servents who run PIA what is its fate?
If they are associated with new airline if it is private where will it end?

    Prophet Muhammad pbuh said
A Momin never gets a Second bite from the same hole.
Get professional staff in the airline keep it away from any airline which is already in worst situation.

If state organs or machinary tries to disrupt your positive efforts for nation building file lawful case against any auch element under article six.

Nationalization has proved public servents can’t run a business activity bcz they are not trained for it.

Supermacy of law and tough accountability is key for national development.

  • I am very happy to learn about Air Karachi to launch in our country. I also request to the CEO of air line to kindly facilities may also be provide the journey by air to peoples of Azad Kashmir & also request to the CAA to kindly reopen the airport of Rawalakot which is closed from many years to date.Sardar Muhammad Ashraf Khan, Azad Kashmir.

  • No dobt it sounds a good move.
Rather than starting a new airline how about fixing the one in hand. And then introducing a new competition as there is in other parts of the world. Then the point on fare which I imagine is intended for people who earn in the forex equivalent rate. Not for the mass majority of the locals. It’s just an opinion I may be wrong also.
Always appreciate a good news for the whole nation.

  • If, private airlines start flights on small airports like,Zhob, Sukkar, DIKhan,Kohat, Dalbadin and connect these areas with Karachi will be a great step of these airlines.
We expect from Air Karachi to take bold steps and connect these airports with Karachi airport.
They can buy few small planes like Fokker or some new versions for small airports.

  • Keeping in view the pathetic condition of roads in the city, the Karachi Air should consider an urgent soft opening by offering intra-Karachi air services such as air taxi, air scooter and air chinchies.
Faisal and Masroor bases should be declared the traffic and services hub for this mega project for inspiration from the Sind government.

  • It’s a good initiative and it was much needed for the travellers and I hope soon Air Karachi will get high service achievement award.
