Data Darbar Lahore Gets Major Makeover

Major progress has been achieved in the Data Darbar and Bhati Chowk remodeling and expansion project, as the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) conducted a large-scale joint operation with support from the district administration and the Auqaf Department.

In an early morning operation, authorities demolished encroaching shops and illegal structures built on government land in front of Data Darbar, clearing the area completely. A total of 16 kanals of state land was successfully retrieved.

The LDA and TEPA enforcement teams, assisted by police contingents and heavy machinery, launched the anti-encroachment drive at dawn. Officials from the District Administration and Auqaf Department also took part in the operation.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq visited the site to inspect the operation and received a briefing from TEPA Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain and LDA Director Enforcement Captain (R) Ahmad Faraz.

According to officials, the reclaimed land has now been added to the Bhati Chowk and Data Darbar Remodeling and Expansion Project, designed to improve traffic management, enhance access routes, and beautify the surroundings of one of Lahore’s most important religious and historical sites.

DG LDA directed teams to clear debris immediately and ordered the Project Director to begin development work on the newly vacated land without delay. Senior representatives from LDA, TEPA, Auqaf Department, and the District Administration were also present during the operation.
