The Punjab cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has approved the recruitment of “School Teacher Interns” in government schools across the province. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting held in Lahore, which reviewed several key administrative and developmental proposals.
The cabinet also approved the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025 and a subsidy program under the Chief Minister High-Tech Farm Mechanization Finance Program to support the agriculture sector.
In a major relief for commuters, the proposal to increase fares for electric buses operating in Multan, Rawalpindi, and Lahore was rejected. The cabinet instead approved the allocation of grants to the Punjab Transport Company for establishing electric depots in various cities to support the expansion of the e-bus network.
Additionally, the cabinet endorsed the proposed summary of a traffic fine and point system to improve road discipline. It also sanctioned funds for the construction of a museum and memorial at National Bank Park, as well as the restoration and upgradation of the Lahore Museum through a comprehensive master plan.
Other approvals included reallocating funds for the Green Pakistan Program, establishing the University of Hafizabad, and delegating powers under the Punjab Consumer Protection Act to assistant commissioners, district consumer protection councils, and assistant directors (legal) for effective implementation at the district level.
