Pakistan is Getting Another Airline After Punjab Govt’s Latest Decision

The Punjab government has officially approved the establishment of Air Punjab (Private) Limited, marking a major step toward launching the province’s first government-backed airline.

The decision was finalized during a Punjab cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where several key initiatives were discussed and approved.

According to officials, the airline will operate under provincial management and is expected to provide affordable, reliable air travel across Punjab and to other major cities in Pakistan.

Alongside this decision, the cabinet also approved the recruitment of “School Teacher Interns” to address the shortage of educators in public schools, and endorsed the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025.

In addition, the cabinet sanctioned the Chief Minister’s Hi-Tech Farm Mechanization Finance Program, introduced QR codes for retailers under the Prime Minister’s Cashless Strategy, and approved an MoU for the Lahore–Rawalpindi High-Speed Rail Project.
