NADRA is Using Special Software to Detect Fake CNICs

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has uncovered more than 250,000 fake Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) in Pakistan. Most of these fake CNICs were issued to Afghan nationals, according to ARY News.

NADRA used special software to identify suspicious and fraudulent identity cards. The software revealed that many Afghan nationals obtained fake CNICs from paying agents. These agents added them to the family trees of Pakistani citizens before issuing official ID cards.

Authorities have started blocking these fake CNICs. People whose cards have been blocked must visit NADRA offices for verification. NADRA officials said affected individuals need to submit family tree verification documents to confirm their identity. Once verified, NADRA will reactivate legitimate CNICs.

NADRA Makes CNIC Process Easier with Online Facility

NADRA has introduced a new online system to make it easier for citizens to get their CNICs. Applicants can now apply for their CNICs from home using the Pak ID website or mobile app. After processing, NADRA will deliver the ID card directly to the applicant’s doorstep via courier.

This new service saves time and helps citizens avoid long queues at NADRA centers. For more information or to apply online, citizens can visit www.nadra.gov.pk or call NADRA’s helpline at 1777.

First CNIC Now Free Within 15 Days

The Government of Pakistan has announced that citizens can now get their first CNIC free of cost within 15 days. NADRA confirmed this update on its official Facebook page. Citizens aged 18 and above who have not yet received a CNIC can visit any NADRA center to apply and collect their first ID card without paying any fee.

By law, individuals become eligible for a CNIC and voting rights when they turn 18.

NADRA has also updated its CNIC renewal fee structure. The new fees for October are:

  • Rs 400 for normal renewal
  • Rs 1,150 for urgent renewal
  • Rs 2,150 for executive renewal
