Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired the 30th cabinet meeting on Wednesday. The cabinet rejected a proposal to increase fares for electric buses in Multan, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.
The meeting approved the recruitment of School Teacher Interns in government schools. The cabinet also endorsed the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025, supporting the chief minister’s vision of “One who possesses it owns it.”
A new subsidy programme under the Chief Minister’s High-Tech Farm Mechanisation Finance Programme received approval. The government will provide super seeders and other modern farm machinery at a 60 percent subsidy. Over 10,000 applications have already been received for the programme, including 1,500 through the Bank of Punjab.
The cabinet agreed to launch the sugarcane crushing season by November 15. Officials reported that, under Kisan Card Phase-II, Rs100 billion has been disbursed to farmers, with a record Rs70 billion recovered from the previous phase. After repayment, second-phase disbursements are processed within 24 hours.
The meeting also reviewed the supply and pricing controls for DAP and urea fertilizers. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif noted that agriculture in Punjab suffered in the past due to a lack of focus on mechanisation.
