LESCO Introduces New Rules for Net Metering

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has introduced stricter regulations for net metering projects following a rise in cases where consumers are installing substandard inverters in their solar systems, reported City42 news channel.

Under the new rules, the allocation of meters for net metering will require mandatory registration of both the inverter number and the company name. LESCO has also directed that all inverter numbers must be recorded in the ERP system.

During meter allocation, consumers must provide the inverter number along with the demand notice; failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the meter allocation.

The inverter numbers listed in the files submitted by companies will become part of the official record, and the inverter number will also be verified at the time of meter installation.

LESCO has made it clear that any discrepancy in the inverter number will prevent the meter from being installed, ensuring that only compliant and verified solar equipment is connected to the grid.

  • Too much noise on any new project by too much inflating the balloon once idea sold to public then start putting pressures on public. Natural gas stations on every chowk as replacement of petrol as fuel, CNG kits installation, attracting small investor to invest in CNG pumps but soon start discouraging CNG pumps.
Similarly here solar as economical replacement of Grid electricity, public sold thier jewelry or cars to get economical Solar electricity, installed green meters instead of allowing solar user not to use Grid electricity for his or her home and use solar electricity but also can sell solar electricity to neighbours on much economical rates rather they have started pressurizing the existing as well as new users.

  • It’s not public responsibility. Lesco should do it themselves.

People had to take out loans to afford solar.

  • India gives solar incentives. While Pakistani Govt work with IPPs to crush solar users. Clearly Indian Govt is smart. We just have old dogs with no new tricks. Sold Riko dik, selling minerals, airports, oil wells, steel mill. They running olx. Sab bech do.

  • Why Govt. allowed import or manufacturing substandard inverters.
Give a guideline to all importers and local manufacturerst then push pressure on public.

Users must refrain from net metering rater install overcapacity solar systems sell to neighbors and use power backups least rely on grids.

  • As per previous Nepra rules followed by all disco’s, when vendor prepare net metering file must mention inverter brand and serial number. Then when LESCO need special approval for verify inverter at the time of meter installation.

My point of view already mentioned in file meter number and file at the time of meter replacement LESCO team must check inverter brand and serial number mentioned in net metering file.

  • Why lessco not provide cheapest electricity to all Pakistan public.
On the other side what government has a play roll to facilitate to public to purchase solar systems.
Why not government adopted free source of produced of electricity like solars or wind .
