Naanbai Association Announces New Price of Roti

The All Pakistan Naanbai Association on Monday announced the suspension of its strike after reaching an agreement with the Punjab government to sell roti at the officially fixed price.

According to Association President Shafiq Qureshi, the strike was postponed following successful negotiations with provincial officials. Naanbais have agreed to sell roti at the government-approved rate of Rs. 14, while the price of naan remains undecided.

However, the issue of wheat flour supply at official rates is still unresolved. Qureshi stated that representatives of the association and traders will hold another meeting with Punjab government officials on Tuesday to discuss the availability of flour. A final decision regarding any future strike will be made after that meeting.

Despite the announcement, many residents continued to face difficulty finding bread, as a large number of tandoors remained closed. In contrast, several hotels and restaurants continued selling naan at higher prices.

The provincial government had earlier warned of strict action against those violating official price controls, as authorities work to stabilize the supply and ensure compliance across the province.
