Punjab Orders Special Audit of All Licensing Centers

The Punjab Police has ordered a special audit of all driving license centers across the province following a corruption scandal uncovered at the Liberty Khidmat Markaz Licensing Center in Lahore.

According to Express News, the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Inspection has issued directives to all district officers, instructing them to ensure a comprehensive audit of their respective licensing centers. Officers of the Superintendent of Police (SP) rank will conduct these special audits.

A 20-point checklist has been prepared for the inspections, covering key areas such as corruption complaints, the role of agent mafias, and cases of overcharging applicants. The audit teams will examine allegations of bribery, illegal fee collection, and involvement of unauthorized agents operating within or around the centers.

Inspectors have also been directed to review video recordings of sign and road tests, as well as footage from the past 30 days, to ensure transparency in the licensing process. In addition, officers will thoroughly check registers, official records, and other supporting evidence.

The directive further states that all audit reports, including findings and recommendations, must be submitted by November 25. The task of auditing licensing centers has been assigned to audit teams working under the offices of District Police Officers (DPOs) and police lines.
