Punjab Announces New Per Day Wages for Daily Wage Workers

The Punjab government has introduced revised labor rates for government development projects and construction work for the period from July to December 2026.

According to a notification issued by the Finance Department, the daily wage for unskilled workers has been fixed at Rs. 1,538.

Skilled workers, including masons, electricians, plumbers, welders, and others, will receive Rs. 2,000 per day.

Meanwhile, gardeners, chainmen, and other semi-skilled workers will be paid Rs. 1,560 per day.

The government has also set the minimum wage for workers employed on a monthly basis at Rs. 40,000.

The revised rates will be used while preparing cost estimates for government construction work and development schemes. As a result, the estimated cost of public-sector projects and government contracts is also expected to change.

The Finance Department has formally notified the new rates for the next six months.
