RTA Dubai to Launch 72 New Projects

Dubai is fast-tracking its infrastructure and transport development, with 72 major projects scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, spanning roads, bridges, tunnels, and integrated corridors across the emirate.

The progress review was conducted by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. Key initiatives reviewed include the Aerial Taxi project, rail network expansions, and the Future Loop pedestrian network, aimed at transforming Dubai into a connected, smart, and sustainable city.

The meeting also included Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications.

72 New Projects to Boost Connectivity

RTA’s integrated infrastructure plan covers:

  • 226 km of roads across strategic areas
  • 115 bridges and tunnels to ease traffic flow
  • 11 main corridors designed to improve citywide connectivity

These projects are part of the RTA’s broader strategy to integrate Dubai’s roads and transport network, reduce congestion, and create seamless mobility for residents and visitors by 2027.

“Dubai’s investment in advanced infrastructure — from Metro expansion to pedestrian-friendly corridors — reflects our vision for connectivity, sustainability, and smart mobility,” said Sheikh Hamdan.

Rail Expansion and Smart Mobility

Dubai’s rail network, including Metro and Tram lines, will grow from 101 km to 131 km by 2029, adding 14 new stations and increasing the fleet from 140 to 168 trains.

The Aerial Taxi project will introduce fully electric eVTOL aircraft capable of 160 km range and speeds up to 320 km/h, with vertiports under construction, including a 3,100 m² facility near Dubai International Airport (DXB).

Future Loop: A Pedestrian-Centric Vision

The Future Loop pedestrian network will feature:

  • 3,300 km of new walkways
  • 2,300 km of rehabilitated routes
  • 110 pedestrian bridges and tunnels

This initiative aims to enhance walkability year-round, encouraging sustainable, human-centred mobility throughout the city.

Dubai’s Vision for a Smart, Sustainable City

These initiatives underscore Dubai’s long-term strategy to create a connected, sustainable, and technologically advanced urban environment, integrating smart mobility, pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, and innovative transport solutions.

By 2027, Dubai aims to set global benchmarks for urban planning, reflecting a city built around connectivity, innovation, and sustainability.
