Mobile Data and Internet Services Shut Down Across the Whole Province

The Balochistan government has suspended mobile internet services across all 36 districts of the province from November 10 to 16, citing heightened security concerns.

In a related move, travel along the Loralai section of National Highway N-70 has been halted for all transport services until November 14.

According to a statement from the provincial Home Department, the decision follows the issuance of a security alert. Officials clarified that the suspension covers rural areas throughout Balochistan, while Quetta district will remain exempt. However, residents in several parts of Quetta have reported weak or missing signals.

In addition to the communication blackout, the provincial authorities have temporarily restricted all transport services, including taxis and private vehicles, along the Loralai stretch of N-70. The ban, which remains in effect until November 14, is intended to safeguard public safety and maintain order.

Officials confirmed that local and intra-city movement will continue to be permitted for essential travel within affected areas.

District administrations, police, and other relevant agencies have been instructed to enforce the restrictions immediately and to arrange alternative measures to reduce inconvenience for the public. Citizens have been advised to check official travel advisories before using the Loralai route.

Meanwhile, all schools and colleges in Quetta Cantonment were closed on Wednesday, with authorities announcing that these institutions will remain shut from November 12 to 16 as a precaution. Some government schools outside the cantonment, however, continued operating as usual.

This latest internet suspension follows a 24-hour shutdown in Quetta on October 31, also imposed for security reasons.

Security tensions in Balochistan have intensified in recent months, with insurgent groups escalating their attacks in the province.
