Dates Announced for UAE National Day 2025 Holiday

UAE residents have just one public holiday remaining in 2025, according to the official UAE Cabinet calendar. The final long weekend of the year will mark the Eid Al Etihad (UAE National Day) celebrations, and many are eager to know how long the break will last.

UAE National Day Holidays 2025

As per Cabinet Resolution No. (27) of 2024 Concerning Public Holidays, Tuesday, December 2, and Wednesday, December 3 have been officially designated as public holidays for Eid Al Etihad.

However, under UAE law, public holidays, except for Eid holidays, can be moved to the start or end of the workweek to create extended breaks.

This means Monday, December 1, could potentially be added or swapped with December 3, depending on the Cabinet’s decision.

If Monday, December 1, is declared a public holiday, residents would enjoy a five-day weekend, combining the regular Saturday–Sunday weekend with the three-day break.

It is, however, more likely that Wednesday, December 3, will be shifted to Monday, resulting in a four-day holiday from Saturday, November 29, to Tuesday, December 2.

Last year, the National Day holidays fell on Monday, December 2, and Tuesday, December 3, 2024, giving residents a four-day break before work resumed on Wednesday, December 4.

The official confirmation of this year’s public holiday schedule will be issued closer to the date.

How UAE Public Holidays Are Determined

Under Cabinet Resolution No. (27) of 2024, the UAE Cabinet holds the authority to adjust public holidays (except Eid) to align with weekends and ensure longer breaks for residents.

In addition, local governments may declare extra holidays for certain departments or special occasions.

Gregorian holidays, such as New Year’s Day and UAE National Day, follow the standard calendar.

Islamic holidays are based on the Hijri calendar and depend on official moon sightings.

The Cabinet’s ability to shift non-Eid holidays provides flexibility to balance work schedules and enhance tourism and family time during long weekends.
