Date Announced for Vehicles to Get E-Tags in Islamabad

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has announced that the federal capital will soon begin issuing e tags for all vehicles using the city’s roads. He said the requirement will apply to vehicles registered both within Islamabad and in other provinces.

The administration will inform citizens beforehand about the designated points where tags will be issued. He confirmed that the issuance of e tags will begin on November 18.

Earlier, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said the government would make electronic tagging compulsory for every vehicle entering or operating in the city. He stated that no vehicle would be allowed on Islamabad’s roads without an e tag, enabling authorities to monitor movement more effectively.

The decision comes after the suicide blast outside the district and sessions court in G-11, which killed 12 people and injured 36. Officials say the new tagging requirement is part of broader efforts to enhance security across the capital.
