  • That’s the problem, you see. This whole EV policy is a scam. Nearly EVs that are being introduced in Pakistan fall in the luxury category with price tags in excess of 1 crore. The cheapest EV hatchbacks that are available cost 4 million and upwards. That’s a million rupees expensive than the Alto. No aspirant middle class car buyer will dole out his/her money on expensive EVs since he’s not getting his money’s worth on these disposable ticking time bombs with unsafe batteries. The rich can afford waste their money on ‘feature-rich’ expensive EV sedans and SUVs without worrying about reliability. Kyun Kay Haram ka paisa he. Gaari kharaab Hoti he to ho. EV companies are smart to tap into the 0.1% of the elite class segment owing to better profit margins. The end result would be flight of capital and an increased hurder on the foreign exchange. Unless the cheapest EV is not priced less than the basic ICE hatch i.e, Alto, this whole EV will reek of a fraud and a tool for ‘money laundering’ with crippling effects on a fragile economy. This has to stop!
