Dubai RTA Warns Residents About Traffic Fine Scam

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a public alert about a fake online campaign falsely offering a 50% discount on traffic fines and other RTA services.

The fraudulent offer, circulating through emails and social media, claims users can get “half off RTA services” by paying online. The RTA confirmed the page is not linked to the authority.

Resident Flags the Scam

A Dubai resident reported the suspicious offer on the RTA’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, sharing an image of the fake promotion. The RTA responded, confirming the campaign is fraudulent and warning that such posts are designed to deceive digital service users.

RTA Advises Residents to Avoid Unofficial Links

Authorities urged the public to:

• Avoid clicking suspicious links
• Refrain from making payments through unverified platforms
• Use only official RTA channels, including the website, service centers, and vending machines

UAE Authorities Note Surge in Online Scams

The UAE Cybersecurity Council and the Ministry of Interior have also reported a rise in online fraud schemes, including fake traffic fines, travel ticket scams, and bogus trading platforms.

Officials advise residents to:

• Use official airline, government, and trading websites
• Check URLs and sender details
• Avoid deals that look “too good to be true”
• Never share personal or banking information
• Report suspicious activity immediately

Authorities warned that scammers increasingly use advanced digital tools, including AI, to trick victims, stressing the need for vigilance and verification.
