The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority on Friday seized hundreds of kilograms of illegal meat and over 255 kilograms of adulterated spices during targeted raids in Peshawar.
According to the authority’s spokesperson, officials raided a butcher shop in Chargano Chowk, where they recovered meat from underage animals, deeming it unfit for human consumption. The shop owner was arrested, and a case has been registered.
In a separate operation, the authority raided a spice manufacturing unit and confiscated 255 kilograms of adulterated spices. Inspectors found the unit using bran, husk, low-quality dyes, and other harmful materials to prepare the products.
Legal proceedings under the Food Safety Act have been initiated against the factory owner.
Director General KP Food Authority Wasif Saeed praised the performance of inspection teams and warned that strict action would continue against manufacturers and sellers involved in food adulteration.
