The Punjab Masstransit Authority has launched a QR-based payment system that allows passengers to travel on electric buses across the province without needing a physical card.
The new feature is available through the eTransit Punjab mobile application. Passengers can download the app on Android devices, register with their mobile number, and recharge their in-app wallet.
Once the wallet is topped up, users can generate a secure, dynamic QR code by switching the QR option to active mode within the app.
Commuters can scan this QR code on the on-board POS machines installed in EV buses, enabling fully cashless and cardless travel. The system automatically deducts the fare from the passenger’s digital wallet, offering a faster and more convenient boarding experience.
