Lahore High Court to Host Major Seminar Calling for Stronger Animal Protection Laws

A seminar focusing on animal welfare and legal reforms will be held on November 22 at 12:00 PM at the Karachi Shuhada Hall inside the Lahore High Court (LHC). The event is being organized in collaboration with the Farkhanda and Shohrat Bukhari Welfare Society, Ruffles Animal Welfare Registry, and Environment and Animal Rights Consultants Pakistan.

Titled “End the Cruelty: Saving Animals Through Law and Love,” the seminar aims to draw attention to the urgent need for stronger animal protection laws and better welfare practices in Pakistan. With animal rights often overlooked in public policy and institutional settings, the event seeks to promote informed discussions, propose reforms, and strengthen the legal and ethical foundations for humane treatment.

The organizers also highlight the moral responsibility placed on society, referring to Qur’anic verse 6:38, which emphasizes that all living beings form communities deserving of respect and compassion.

The seminar will bring together legal experts, animal welfare activists, academics, political figures, and civil society members. They will discuss gaps in current laws, challenges in enforcement, and practical steps to improve animal protection across the country. The program will also explore approaches rooted in constitutional duties, ethical values, religious principles, and environmental concerns.

Members of the legal community, civil society, students, and the general public are invited to attend and take part in the growing movement to ensure dignity, care, and lawful protection for animals in Pakistan.
