Punjab Issues New Rules for Water Filtration Plants

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has introduced new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for commercial water filtration plants to improve the quality of bottled water.

Under the revised guidelines, all bottled water companies must replace their filtration filters every month. They are also required to maintain a record and video proof of each filter change and upload it to the PFA’s online portal.

In addition, bottled water units will now undergo mandatory monthly testing at a laboratory approved by the authority.

The PFA has directed all plants to complete their filter replacement by December 15 and update the related documentation on the portal. Units that fail to comply after the deadline will face closure.

The PFA Director General said that testing labs for both water and milk are being established across all divisions. He stressed that water is a basic necessity, and its quality will not be compromised under any circumstances.
