Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Arrives Next Week – Here’s What We Know So Far

Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 earlier in September during its Snapdragon Summit in Maui, Hawaii. At the same event, the company also mentioned the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 but shared no technical details, saying only that it would arrive in 2025. Qualcomm’s Chinese division has now confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will officially launch on November 26.

Although full specifications have not been revealed, Qualcomm previously described the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 as a mobile platform designed “to give you more choices and flexibility, while still delivering flagship features.”

The company later confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is built on a 3nm process, the same as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

However, the two chips differ in clock speeds. The 8 Gen 5’s prime core is expected to reach up to 3.8GHz, with performance cores running up to 3.32GHz. By comparison, the Elite version offers a peak of 4.6GHz on its prime core and up to 3.62GHz on its performance cores.

Earlier reports suggested a 1+7 CPU layout for the 8 Gen 5, but reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has since claimed it will follow a 2+6 configuration similar to the Elite model.

This means the chip will feature two prime cores and six performance cores. The tipster also noted that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will use the Adreno 840 GPU, but its performance will not match the Elite variant.

More details will become clear when Qualcomm formally launches the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 next week. Until then, you can explore our 8 Elite Gen 5 coverage for a deeper look at Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip.
