Redmi Note 17 Series Launched With Big Battery Upgrades and Tough Design

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 17 series, including the vanilla Note 17 and the Note 17 Pro.

The new phones focus on large batteries, stronger durability, brighter displays, and improved long-term battery health. The phones have been launched in China with an international launch expected later this year.

Design and Display

The Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro both use a flat display design and a rectangular rear camera module.

The Redmi Note 17 features a 7-inch Samsung E4 Pro OLED display with 1080p resolution. It also comes with a plastic frame, an optical fingerprint sensor, and an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance with Gorilla Glass 7i.

The standard Redmi Note 17 comes in Meteor Purple and Green colour options. The Meteor Purple version has a meteor-like pattern on the back.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro has a flat 6.83-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits and 3840Hz PDM dimming. The Pro also has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection and IP69K dust and water resistance, making it more durable than the vanilla model.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro comes in black, white, blue, and purple color options.

Internals and Software

The Redmi Note 17 series uses Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. The standard Redmi Note 17 uses the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4.

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is a relatively new budget 4nm chipset that brings 5G connectivity for cheap, while the 6s Gen 4 is an upper-tier model with faster performance.

The phones run Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4, based on Android 16. AI features include fraud prevention for scam calls, AI deepfake detection for video calls, and bank card fraud detection.

Cameras

The Redmi Note 17 only has a single 50MP main rear camera, which is quite odd since the Redmi Note 15 also featured an 8MP ultrawide unit.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro also has a 50MP main camera, but we expect that it is going to perform better than the vanilla Redmi Note 17. Redmi’s launch event did not share details about its secondary camera. We will update this space once more details are released.

Battery and Pricing

Battery capacity is the biggest highlight of the Redmi Note 17 series.

The standard Redmi Note 17 has an 8,000 mAh battery with 45W wired charging. The Redmi Note 17 Pro gets an even larger 9,000 mAh battery with 67W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

These battery levels should allow the phone to operate for up to 2 days of average use and maybe even 3 days for the Pro model.

The starting price for the vanilla Redmi Note 17 is $192 for the 6GB/128GB unit, the 8GB/128GB variant costs $206, and the 8GB/256GB model will be available for $236.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro’s prices are as follows: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage costs $236, 8GB RAM with 256GB storage will go for $250, the 12GB RAM with 256GB variant is priced at $295, and lastly, the 8GB RAM with 512GB model will be available for $310.
