Punjab has begun a major overhaul of its driving license system by moving to introduce artificial intelligence–enabled vehicles for driving tests. The decision aims to eliminate corruption and ensure full transparency in the licensing process.
The Traffic Headquarters has sent a summary to the provincial government requesting approval to purchase 32 AI-equipped vehicles. Officials expect to complete the purchase by December.
They will install sensors, cameras, and processing units in each vehicle so the system can evaluate applicants automatically. The department will deploy the first vehicles in Lahore and other major cities. It has already produced two trial vehicles and completed their testing.
The government will spend more than Rs. 160 million on the 32 vehicles, while equipment installation will cost around Rs. 600,000 per vehicle. The new AI system will generate test results automatically, removing any chance of manual intervention.
Officials said the automated evaluation will prevent unqualified or politically recommended applicants from obtaining a driving license. The DIG Traffic Punjab has already forwarded the purchase summary to the government for final approval, and the department plans to launch the new system as soon as the vehicles arrive.

This way govt will only make sure that every driver has a driving license that’s not enough for safety of other road users . There should be driving schools affiliated with traffic police to make sure that driver gets a proper training and knowledge about road safety and to adher to traffic rules . And while getting final test the traffic police person should be sitting with new driver to see if the driver is following the rules and regulations and traffic signs and then he should be awarded with driver license. Knowing how to park a car can’t make someone a good driver
The infamous license of the world is the one issued by Dubai and when you take their test, AI evaluates you plus the examiner. This way, two evaluations are being done at the same time.
Only fees/charges be taken while re-issuing the new driving licence to babas/experienced drivers without insulting them by conducting D/Test..
I went for driving test in sialkot kutchehry road for issuance of my new driving license. after I passed my test one person who was responsible for giving and taking back car from applicants asked me 400 rs. I asked which charges he replied it’s because you used the car.

The way they putting cone, its very hard for some one to pass the test, Rate in gujrat specially in JALALPUR JATTAN, is RS30000.
if you pay they give guidance on the phone, one private guys bring his car and charge every one rs500, obviously he paid to police as well, and every child know what is the Rate for pass test, no body take action coz, this money goes upto top level,
Such type of licencing procedure should be accross the country with free simulation based training schools . When the candidate will not be able to get the licence from Punjab, he or she will get from islamabad or other provinces. It should be applicable to all the provinces under the one motorvehicle licence issuing authority. No doubt it is a fantastic step.
