Strict Penalties Announced for Vehicles Without Green Stickers

The Punjab Environment Protection Agency, working with the Punjab Safe City Authority, has launched a major crackdown in Lahore on vehicles operating without mandatory Green Stickers.

Officials have intensified enforcement under a zero-tolerance policy and issued more than 2,000 e-challans in just four days. The department plans to tighten inspections even further in the coming days.

Under the new rules, repeat offenders will face doubled fines, and authorities will impound vehicles on the third violation. The government has also imposed a complete ban on the movement of any vehicle without a Green Sticker inside Lahore and on the motorway.

Officials say the campaign aims to curb pollution and ensure full compliance across the city. Authorities have warned that anyone using fake or self-made stickers will face immediate legal action. Penalties include heavy fines and on-the-spot confiscation of the vehicle.

Traffic Police teams, Anti-Enforcement squads, and check-posts are conducting continuous inspections across Lahore. Issuing a public advisory, officials urged citizens to ensure their vehicles carry a valid Green Sticker.

They stressed that challans and impoundment are now unavoidable for those who ignore the order. The agency asked residents to cooperate with enforcement teams to help reduce smog in the city.

  • Is this a joke ? All modern cars don’t need the sticker. They have tech to show proof.

    This is more looting people.

    • Yes modern cars do have tech but there are still big number of old cars like 15+ year old whose engine can be in mess so it can be used to identify good engine cars from bad ones

  • I think the govt wants people to rebel and get angry.

Either make it free or don’t tell us to get it

  • We live in DHA. There are huge waste burning fires set across the wall at Rohi nallah every night. We complain to the EPA every time. They come and put the fires out but cannot stop them being set. And you’re talking about people being fined for stickers.

    • Not to mention , most smoke emitting vehicles are not included in green sticker nonsense

Rickshaws, loader rickshaws , trucks, buses, bikes all not included and simply allowed to do as they please.

      This is nothing but extortion

    • A systematic approach to solving issues of Pollution is missing.
Simply putting operatives in uniform on motorbikes but not providing them smooth backup to tackle fires, launch investigation & follow up with prosecution is bound to be a futile exercise.

  • Massive trash burning set across the wall at Rohi nallah every night, EPA is called daily, they are sent the location, videos and images of this fire yet they haven’t been able to put an end to it. Not just this one fire, but there is daily trash burning at multiple other locations which we’ve called about daily and nothing gets done.

    • You are absolutely right , this burning activity will intensify when the winters are severe . In every housing society of Lahore and other cities the night guards / chowkidars etc burn entire day’s waste collected from street waste and the smelly smokey cloud is formed in entire city , this causes breathing problems besides smog at later stages …

    • Complete absence of coordination between EPA, Police, Fire Brigade and Prosecution Service. Clumsy, ineffective governance focused on appearance not service delivery.

  • Extortion disguised as friendliness to environment.
Actual governance at effectively controlling pollution are beyond the will or capacity of a thoroughly corruption ridden & ineffectual crony favouring administration.

  • Cosmetic measure against air pollution and behind it purpose reveals to collect revenue only from the car owners through the fines.
Another evidence is frequently changing booth testing locations. I myself tried 3 times testing of my car, every time EPA staff gone for the lunch break and didn’t return until 5 PM.

  • Moreover helpline so-called is not helpful.
Conflicting guidelines are given on the internet about locations and timings.
