International Flight Operations Reportedly Suspended at Three Major Airports

Pakistan airports continue to face a serious decline as a large number of facilities across the country remain non-operational, while international flight operations have been suspended at three major airports.

According to Geo News, Pakistan has 151 airports and landing strips of various sizes, yet only ten are counted as active or classified for international operations.

Among these, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Sialkot, Peshawar, Faisalabad and Quetta are the only airports fully functioning for international travel.

Others, including the New Gwadar International Airport, Skardu, and New Mirpur airports hold international status but remain inactive with no scheduled flights.

Despite being labelled as major international gateways, airports in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad see only a handful of foreign flights during daytime, far below the traffic handled by comparable airports around the world.

The New Gwadar International Airport, built with heavy investment, has been unused since its inauguration, with no domestic or international operations.

Pakistan currently has 43 airports serving local routes, while the remaining 98 locations are small landing strips or aviation sites used mainly for military and emergency purposes.
