Several rules shape how the groups can be formed:
Top-ranked teams must be separated:
Many believe that these rules reduce the chance of early upsets and underdog runs similar to Morocco’s 2022 semifinal campaign.
The hosts have been pre-assigned:
USA → Group D
Mexico → Group A
Canada → Group B
The trio automatically qualified as part of the joint hosting arrangement.
The event kicks off at 5:00 PM GMT (10:00 PM local time) on 5 December. Supermodel Heidi Klum, comedian Kevin Hart, and actor-producer Danny Ramirez will serve as hosts for the evening.
Ahead of the draw, live performances will feature Andrea Bocelli, Robbie Williams, and Nicole Scherzinger, while FIFA President Gianni Infantino and former US President Donald Trump are set to deliver speeches.
The ceremony will then showcase video highlights of the finalist teams, introductions, and finally, the draw itself.
Ex-Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand will oversee the draw, assisted by broadcaster Samantha Johnson and a lineup of sports legends, including Tom Brady, Wayne Gretzky, Aaron Judge, and Shaquille O’Neal.
To close out the 90-minute event, the Village People will perform “YMCA,” bringing the glittering ceremony to a lively finale.
