Goods Transporters Announce Nationwide Strike Starting Tomorrow

Local goods transporters’ associations have announced a nationwide strike starting tomorrow, which will continue until their demands are fully met.

According to officials, all transport operations at ports, loading, and unloading activities will be completely halted during the strike.

Malik Shehzad, President of the Transporters Goods Association, warned the government to take notice, saying, “We are on full protest and will not resume work until our demands are addressed.

The government cannot expect us to completely shut down our business.” He urged authorities to take immediate action to resolve transporters’ issues.

The strike has already affected the delivery of essential goods in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with numerous trucks and containers halted.

Shehzad emphasized that the government will be responsible for any delays in the timely delivery of necessities.

Tariq Gujar, President of the Local Goods Transporters Association, said the strike decision was made unanimously during a meeting, and from tomorrow, all loading, unloading, and transport operations across the country will stop.

Shakeel Qureshi, President of the Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance, added that although the Transport Minister had promised to resolve the issues during negotiations, the Punjab government later denied any progress via a tweet.

He reaffirmed that the protest would continue until the transporters’ demands are fully approved.
