The Punjab government has announced the launch of a new electric bus service in Jhang as part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Green Initiative. The service will begin operations on December 12.
According to the Punjab Transport Company, the electric buses will operate on three major routes in the city. The routes include GBS Jhang to Gojra Bypass, Bus Stand Jhang to Aliabad, and GBS Jhang to UVAS.
The company stated that the service aims to provide safer, cleaner, and more comfortable travel options for the public. Officials noted that the new buses feature modern amenities such as WiFi and eco-friendly electric technology designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
The initiative reflects the provincial government’s broader strategy to introduce sustainable urban transport across Punjab.
The transport company said the launch of the service will improve daily mobility for residents and support the government’s commitment to environmentally friendly public transportation.
The launch in Jhang follows earlier rollouts in other districts, signaling continued progress in adopting eco-friendly transportation solutions under the Chief Minister’s direction.
