The Karachi Traffic Police have started issuing e-challans through drone surveillance to curb illegal parking in the city, DIG Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah said on Wednesday.
He stated that drone teams monitored busy areas during peak evening hours and identified two vehicles parked incorrectly on Zaibunnisa Street. Each vehicle received a Rs. 10,000 e-challan.
According to DIG Shah, dedicated teams will now monitor multiple locations using drones, and anyone found intentionally blocking roads or parking illegally will receive an immediate e-challan.
He added that drone coverage will extend from Saddar Mobile Market to Abdullah Haroon Road, with surveillance focused on major roads in the Saddar area. The traffic police plan to expand drone-assisted enforcement to more parts of the city in the coming weeks.
Officials said the drone initiative aims to ease congestion in high-traffic zones and support ongoing efforts to improve road discipline across Karachi.
