Education authorities have proposed adding two new academic groups at the matriculation level across the country, with plans to introduce technical education and agriculture as subjects.
The Inter Board Coordination Commission (IBCC) has called a consultative meeting to discuss the proposal for the two new matric groups. The meeting will review subject groupings and alternative routes to higher education.
According to officials, the IBCC meeting will take place in Islamabad on December 23. The participants will also consider eligibility criteria for admission to pre-medical and pre-engineering groups at the intermediate level.
The agenda includes consultations on the equivalence of alternative subjects at the matric level and a decision regarding the equivalence of foreign educational certificates.
The meeting will also include discussions on general education and vocational training. Officials will review admission-related matters for students completing matriculation in technical education and agriculture, including their eligibility for medical and engineering programs.
In addition, the agenda includes a proposal to establish a national working group for education reforms.
