Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone may arrive later than initially expected, according to a new research note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. While Apple is still believed to be targeting a 2026 announcement, shipments may not begin until the following year.
Kuo said Apple’s first foldable iPhone, commonly referred to as the iPhone Fold, is currently behind schedule. He attributed the delay to early-stage yield issues and broader manufacturing challenges that could complicate mass production.
According to Kuo, Apple remains on track to unveil the device in the second half of 2026. However, he warned that stable and large-scale shipments may not materialize until 2027.
Kuo added that supply is likely to remain tight through the end of 2026, even if the device is officially announced during that period. Demand is expected to remain strong, which could further strain early availability.
A separate recent report suggested that the iPhone Fold could play a role in boosting growth across the foldable smartphone market once it becomes available.
The iPhone Fold is rumored to carry a price tag of around $2,400 in the US. The device is expected to feature a 5.8-inch cover display and a larger 7.58-inch flexible inner screen when unfolded.
Apple has not confirmed any details about a foldable iPhone, and no official launch timeline has been announced.
