Winter Vacations Announced for All Private Schools and Colleges in Islamabad

The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has finalized the winter vacation schedule for all private schools and colleges operating in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

According to an official notification issued on 19 December 2025, all private educational institutions within PEIRA’s jurisdiction will observe winter holidays from 26 December 2025 to 3 January 2026. The break applies to all registered private schools and colleges in the federal capital.

The circular states that academic activities will resume on Monday, 5 January 2026, with institutions directed to strictly follow the notified schedule. The decision has been taken under the powers conferred by the Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions (Registration & Regulation) Act, 2013.

Signed by Secretary PEIRA Muhammad Javed Iqbal, the notification has been dispatched to the chief executive officers and principals of private institutions across Islamabad.

Copies have also been forwarded to relevant officers of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, as well as ICT-PEIRA members and the IT section for publication on official platforms.

The move brings the private sector in line with the federal government’s earlier decision for public institutions.

Earlier, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) had announced winter holidays for all government schools and colleges in Islamabad’s urban and rural areas.

Under that notification, all Islamabad Model Schools, colleges, and ex-FG colleges will also remain closed from 26 December 2025 to 3 January 2026, with classes resuming on Monday, 5 January 2026, and Saturday, 10 January 2026, declared a working day for administrative, teaching, and non-teaching staff.
