An FIR has been registered against the principal of a private school in Sialkot after a video showing schoolchildren dancing to a Bollywood song went viral on social media.
The case was registered at Sabz Pir Police Station after the video spread widely online. The footage showed students dancing during a fun fair held at a private school in the suburban area of Chobara.
During the event, the children were seen dancing to the Indian song Lehnga by Diljit Dosanjh, which was played at a high volume. The song includes lyrics referring to alcohol and adult themes.
Following public reaction to the video, police registered a case against the school principal for negligence.
Officials noted that allowing such music to be played and encouraging students to dance to it was unsuitable for an educational setting.
However, authorities clarified that the children themselves should not be blamed. The students appeared to be responding to the rhythm of the music rather than the meaning of the lyrics. Expecting minors to understand or analyse references to alcohol was deemed unreasonable.
Officials said responsibility lies with the school administration, as school principals and staff are expected to ensure that all activities and entertainment remain age-appropriate and suitable for students.
