Huawei has officially launched the Nova 15 series in China, expanding its midrange portfolio with three models: the Nova 15, Nova 15 Pro, and Nova 15 Ultra. The lineup introduces Huawei’s new dual-ring camera design and brings updates across displays, performance, imaging hardware, and battery capacity.
Design and Display
The Nova 15 Pro and Nova 15 Ultra share the same display configuration. Both feature a 6.84-inch LTPO OLED panel with a resolution of 1320 × 2856 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The panels reach up to 4,000 nits of peak local brightness and are protected by Kunlun glass. A pill-shaped cutout houses a front-facing camera alongside a 1.5MP multispectral sensor. Both models also carry IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.
The standard Nova 15 comes with a 6.7-inch OLED display offering FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It uses a single punch-hole cutout for its selfie camera and retains an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. All three devices adopt Huawei’s new dual-ring rear camera layout.
All three phones in the series are available in four color options: Dynamic Green, Easy Match Purple, Zero Degree White, and Phantom Night Black. These shades provide a mix of bolder striped panel finishes and more understated classic looks.
Internals and Software
Huawei equips the Nova 15 Pro and Nova 15 Ultra with the Kirin 9010S chipset, which the company says delivers an 18 percent performance improvement over the Kirin 8020 used in the previous generation. Both phones support satellite connectivity and ship with HarmonyOS 6.0 out of the box.
For those unaware, these are both high-end chipsets that provide near-flagship performance.
The Nova 15 is powered by the Kirin 8020 chipset, which Huawei claims offers up to 42 percent better performance compared to the Kirin 8000 used in the Nova 14. Like the Pro and Ultra models, the standard Nova 15 also supports satellite connectivity and runs HarmonyOS 6.0.
Cameras
The Nova 15 Ultra features the most advanced camera system in the lineup, with three 50MP RYYB sensors on the rear. The main camera includes optical image stabilization and a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0. It is joined by a periscope telephoto camera offering 3.7x optical zoom and an ultrawide camera with a 118-degree field of view.
The Nova 15 Pro uses a 50MP RYYB main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization, paired with a 12MP RYYB telephoto lens and a 13MP RYYB ultrawide camera. The standard Nova 15 comes with a 50MP RYYB main camera, a 12MP RYYB telephoto lens, and a 1.5MP multispectral color sensor.
All three phones feature a 50MP selfie camera, with the Pro and Ultra models also including a multispectral sensor for improved color accuracy.
Battery and Pricing
The Nova 15 Pro and Nova 15 Ultra are equipped with 6,500mAh silicon-carbon batteries and support 100W wired fast charging. The Ultra model also adds 50W wireless charging. The standard Nova 15 features a 6,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging support.
Pricing of the Nova 15 is $383 for the 256GB variant and $425 for the 512GB model. The Nova 15 Pro is priced at $496 for the 256GB version and $553 for the 512GB option. The Nova 15 Ultra starts at $596 for 256GB, rises to $639 for 512GB, and reaches $710 for the 1TB configuration.
