LHC Introduces Biometric Verification for Filing of Cases

In line with the directives of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee, the Lahore High Court has introduced a biometric verification system across the high court and the district judiciary.

According to an LHC press release issued on Tuesday, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum directed the issuance of formal instructions for implementing biometric verification at the Lahore High Court and all district courts in Punjab.

Under the new system, biometric verification will be mandatory at the time of filing cases. Litigating parties will be required to verify their identity through biometric authentication, while witnesses and sureties will also undergo the same verification process.

Court authorities said the judicial biometric system will be linked with the National Database and Registration Authority database to ensure accurate identification. Biometric verification facilities will also be available at NADRA e-Sahulat centers to facilitate litigants.

The system will be implemented at the Lahore High Court’s principal seat in Lahore, as well as its benches in Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rawalpindi. In addition, all district courts across Punjab will adopt biometric verification for litigants, witnesses, and sureties.
