A steering committee meeting on Punjab’s first E-Taxi Scheme was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Bilal Akbar Khan.
According to official details, the meeting was the third session of the steering committee reviewing progress on the project. During the meeting, officials were informed that 1,100 electric vehicles have been allocated for the scheme in its first phase.
The committee was briefed that the E-Taxi Scheme has received more than 22,000 applications so far. Authorities said the scrutiny of applications is under way and the approval process is currently in progress.
Officials stated that the scheme is expected to provide employment opportunities, particularly for women. They added that, in view of growing public interest, the scope of the E-Taxi Scheme will be expanded to additional cities in Punjab.
