PCB Reportedly Call Shaheen Back From BBL

According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly instructed fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi to return home from the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) to undergo further evaluation and rehabilitation for his knee injury.

Shaheen had suffered the injury during Brisbane Heat’s match against Adelaide Strikers, leaving the field mid-game after completing just 3 overs for 26 runs.

Team officials had initially planned to monitor him over 24 to 48 hours, but sources indicate that the PCB has decided to take a more proactive approach, prioritizing the pacer’s long-term fitness ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming T20 World Cup campaign in February.

The 22-year-old left-arm fast bowler has been a key figure for Pakistan in recent years, and the board is reportedly keen to ensure that the injury does not jeopardize his availability for the global tournament. Officials are said to be coordinating with Brisbane Heat management to facilitate Shaheen’s early departure from Australia.

Meanwhile, the ongoing BBL season continues to feature several Pakistani stars. Babar Azam is in his debut campaign, while Shadab Khan and Mohammad Rizwan remain in focus for their on-field contributions.

According to sources, the PCB is expected to release an official statement confirming Shaheen’s return and outlining the recovery plan in the coming days. Fans will be watching closely, hoping that the left-arm quick can regain full fitness well ahead of Pakistan’s World Cup preparations.
